    Center Console

Well, I can't really seem to find any decent aftermarket consoles. I really do like the '97+ OEM center consoles, anyone know what would need to be done to fit into my '96? I see that the hand brake would not line up, is there a solution to that? Anything else I should know?

A/C Compressor or Heater Core or both???

Interesting. VERY interesting. I replaced the radiator about 6 months ago, fluid is holding fine, no leaks. I am guessing if the heater core was leaking then it would be causing a coolant leak/shortage? Especially with the amount of fluid in the carpet at time, sometimes a small puddle. The...

A/C Compressor or Heater Core or both???

Here goes. 1996 2WD AW4. I have heat but no AC. I have liquid on the passenger side floor carpet, both front and back, but I think its just the volume of liquid running from the front to the back. Got my brakes changed and the guy said that it is most likely a rusted and now leaking...

    Center Console

Hi all, My XJ is very basic and does not have a center console (just freely exposed hand brake). Has anyone ever installed an OEM or other center console into their XJ? I really just want something to lean on as I drive and maybe some cup holders. I have looked for parts at junk yards...

    AW4 Problem

kastein, Thanks for the definitions, this will be helpful. Also, I am not quite sure where the leak is coming from. When the lube shop was under my car doing the oil change, they said the tranny fluid was coming out from the pan. I am not sure if they meant that the pan itself had a leak or...

    AW4 Problem

First, let me say, that the tranny problem seems revolve around the amount of fluid in the system. When I have the tranny fluid completely filled, the problem pretty much disappears. The more that leaks out, the rougher it gets. Hey Ecomike, My lack of knowledge is really preventing me from...

    AW4 Problem

Hi all, I just got my oil changed and as usual had low tranny fluid when I went into the shop (they always freak out about this). They tried to talk me into a tranny flush and i'm like, "I'm pretty sure my leak is flushing the system enough. No fluid lasts longer that 3 months in the tranny...

    Changing Brakes

Hi all, I am going to be changing the brakes on all 4 wheels on my 1996 XJ 4.0L 2WD. I am going to use ceramic brakes. Does anyone know a good yet cheap brand to get, online or instore. I guess the front are disc and the rear are shoes.?. Also, this will be my first attempt at changing the...

    AW4 Problem

Jeep: 1996 4.0L 2WD, stock everything (expect for the parts that have fallen off). Problem: This has been a long term problem, about 6 months if not a year. My Jeep seems to have trouble shifting gears, usually from 1st to 2nd. My transmission is leaking fluid (not sure on the exact amount but...

    A/C Compressor

The clutch in my A/C Compressor is busted and I need to replace the whole unit. How difficult of a job is this? Would I be better off buying a new unit or would second hand be ok? This is in my 1996 Jeep XJ 2WD 4.0L. Any advice?

    Needed: Driver's Seat

Hi all, I am in need of some help. I have owned a 1996 Jeep Cherokee since 2001. Since I bought it, a metal brace on the bottom of the driver's seat has been broken. I welded it back together and this worked well for some time. However, it has broken again and welding does not seem to be the...
