Definetly insulate the exposed wires at the harness. Also you stated that you replaced the cam positioning sensor, did you sync the sensor also. Here is an article on it using a toothpick.http://motorage.search-autoparts.com...30/article.pdf

Did you look over the harness for the crank sensor, make sure no damage to the wires. Since the cps melted, look carefully for any bare copper.

You said your fuel guage is bad. Have you ever run it out of gas, or really low between fillups? If so it possible the fuel filter is partially clogged, maybe needs to be changed. Just trying to give you some trouble shooting ideahs, before you go changing the pump out.

Check the relay it self, not the fuse. The relay could of crapped out. Cheaper and easier to replace a relay, then a new pump.

I have a fake 01 limited, no overhead consol, no leather interior, no fog lamps. and its has a 231 t-case. My guess is since it was the last year, it got what ever was left at the assembly line.
