Be careful with that Herculiner stuff!

Actually, I did mention the fact that she was marrying one of the most famous hootuses in the world. Couldn't resist (and had permission of the groom). They're great people. Glad I've had the chance to meet them.

Be careful with that Herculiner stuff!

And, I'm the pastor that performed the ceremony for Mr. "I herculined my hootus" to his wife (Gearald and Ashli). He's a great guy that had an honest question after an honest mistake -- and it has made it around the world with a thread that doesn't stop. Oh, and about those Exploders... They...

    Purolator has been bought out!!!

Sorry dudes... I've cut open too many Frams to EVER run one of their products -- EVER. Cut open your own before mouthing off... If you like that oatmeal mush going through your engine -- fine. It's just not for me.

Any ideas on how to cut thick rubber

The sawsall will cut it best -- IF -- you can somehow keep the rubber from bouncing around. It will cut like butter if you can support it. Same goes for tread from tires, etc. I've made a few pads out of that sort of rubber, and tried almost everything.

    Purolator has been bought out!!!

Of course, you are 100% completely right -- as far as catastrophic engine failures are concerned. AND 100% completely WRONG as far as internal engine wear is concerned! For every engine I run across with a rod out the side of the block, I see, what, 10,000 that are oil-burning, smoking, no...

    Purolator has been bought out!!!

You all might want to check out this site about filters -- who makes them -- and what they are made of on the inside. http://www.ntpog.org/reviews/filters/filters.shtml http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilterstudy.html

    baja claws or xterrains

Another vote for the Truxus -- they run nice and smooth on the highway -- barely hear them, and have PLENTY of traction for what you are doing. If money is an object check out the Kuhmo Venture MT's . They are fantastic in snow, and do an admirable job on the trail. In fact, they are my tire...

    i hate really hate fords...

There are two Ford plants in Louisville -- one makes the F250 and larger trucks (Superduty line) and the other makes the Explorer line. They are located on opposite sides of town, hire completly different workers, and build completely different products. I drive by both on occaision and it is...

    i hate really hate fords...

That's rather curious... I often switch seats with one of my kiddos -- both drive XJ's -- and they ride rather rough compared to my 'Sploder off road. I don't spill my coffee while wheeling -- they're trying to keep their heads from banging off the windows, not to mention not even trying to...

    whos welded a 8.25 rear

You are talking about what they call a "fozzy locker" where the spiders can rotate just a little bit before grabbing. I've found that it doesn't work. If things can start to move, they build up rotational force that adds stress instead of relieves it. I weld everything to everything so it...

    whos welded a 8.25 rear

You guys have to remember that there are people out there breaking Dana 70's. For some, NOTHING is strong enough. For the use described above, I'd say welding is a fair way to go - -inexepensive and it works. Just don't expect welding to turn that 8.15 into a 60 or more. Also, I'd say that...

    i hate really hate fords...

That's why over half of the Jeep dudes that trailer their rigs use Fords as a tow rig -- right? That's also why so many of you XJ guys want to stick an 8.8 under the back end -- right? Just hosin' ya for sure, but there are bad apples from every manufacturer. I've got an...

    Booty fab long arms

http://www.naxja.org/forum/member.php?u=2698 Give Steelfish a shout. He has a good supplier for the weld in parts, threaded rod, and joints. He works in a local shop and was impressed with the price and quality with what he found, so he's using their stuff. I'd shoot you a link, but I don't...

    Booty fab long arms

Steelfish is doing likewise -- they are working out very well. He's here on NAXJA, but I'm not sure if he has a build up thread. You can check him out at: http://ucora.org/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1858

    homemade snorkel question

Gojeep's setup is almost exactly what I am describing, except that I'm using the cheapy hood scoop in place of the really nice cowl induction hood. Nice work!
