    88 XJ, lots of mods

I am looking to sell my 88 project XJ. It has 263,000 on the odometer, but I swapped in a 98 ZJ 4.0L into it which has about 35,000 on it. No rust anywhere on the Jeep, and it has never been wrecked. The Jeep runs extremely well, and I have driven it mostly on the highway since all of the...

What are the Virginia Laws for Lifted XJ?

bumpers can be no taller than 28 inches from the ground and the tires cannot stick out past the fenders more than 4 inches, otherwise you need marker lights to indicate the extremes of the vehicle. Other than that, go at it. Scott

    Seals in the Waggy 44??????

I believe the "differential seal" is what you are referring to as the inner seal. When I rebuilt my Waggy 44 in my Waggy, I just replaced the outers and everything is still gravy to this day. Scott

Getting a stick welder, which one??

Ary, I have done all of my welding with a Lincoln AC/DC 220. I love it. I can't forsee anything you would need anything different for. The expensive part is going to be the mask, if you go autodark. Scott

    Would Scout 2 D44's work?

Sure...you are probably still going to have to do a little fab work on setting up your spring perches, but overall much easier than a front. When hunting for axles, think about gear ratios, lug patterns, widths, and current brake setups. Some axles may seem like a good deal until you add...

    Would Scout 2 D44's work?

Scouts, besides being passenger side front, were leaf sprung. You would need all the bracketry to hook up your XJ link suspension in the front. Keep lookin... Scott

Waggy 44 and lower control arm mounts

Fatwreck, I am considering this swap as well. Actually I have a Wagoneer trail rig that will no longer pass inspection here in VA so I am thinking of slinging both of the Waggy axles under my DD XJ. Seeing as you seem to know Herzog pretty well, how does his XJ handle now after his 44...

    Toyota axles in an XJ?

Has anyone done this? I have been considering my options for axle swaps, and can find tons of Waggy 44 fronts, but havent really decided on the rear. I have heard tons of good things about Toyota axles, and seen them take some serious beatings. Both being 6 lug I think this would make for a...

    lift block/shim question..

welding cast to mild If you are gonna go the welding route, don't use a MIG. I've seen plenty of successful MIG jobs, but it takes skill. I have welded quite a few spring-over perches on the tops of Waggy D44's using a high Nickel content welding rod, at 120 amps on my little stick welder...
