I run the 6" kit here in the UK and the big heims on the lower arms wore out after a couple of years (~10k miles). The big difference is probably the amount of mud and wet sand that I drive in - it destroys any joint, driveshaft, pulleys etc. I'm used to greasing and servicing spherical joints...

The VM diesel has a fairly poor record in the UK, especially pre-97 ones. The symptoms of head gasket failure can actually indicate the separate heads becoming porous and needing replacement.

Nissan Patrol and Landcruiser 80-series axles are the ones to go for. The front axle will need professional modification to change the side of the diff though. I understand this is a fairly common swap in Aus, a guy over here in the UK has just shown me his Patrol axle conversion, done on a TJ.
