I stared at mine for about 5 minutes thinking about how it's -40 outside and I need to get it in the garage for a few things. Got an end of the world ride to go on soon. Guess I'll have to take the turbo heater out and thaw it out.
Don't trust just hearing the fuel pump kick on. Check fuel pressure. If you got the tools you can also check the amps it's drawing. Had a no start issue on mine. Went through everything. Checked pressure and it was low. Hooked up an amp merger and power probe. Jumped the fuel pump and it was...
I'm not reusing the seal. I'm going to silicon it in. Also considering making it removable. As in make a gasket and drill some hole in the plastic. Put some bolts on the hatch and use wing nuts to attach it. I've replaced a few. I have two back glasses, two other hatches and three parts rigs I...
Not too worried about the glass. It's a trail only rig and will just be replaced with plexiglass or lexan. Got to go cover it up before it snows again though. Since my cut off temp for wheeling is -20* I do need to replace it since wheeling at those temps it'll get cold inside.
Lesson learned...
Managed to install this awesome mod today in the middle of winter in Alaska. Even did the work while out on the trail.
Usually the tire isn't up top and if it is it's strapped very well. But it was froze in place and I could strap it better. Well should've tried harder. While going down the...
Before I swapped in free tj shafts and such I made my own manual actuator. Super easy and cost me $12. Get a good stiff cable so it will work in both directions and a lever to work it with. Year the diaphragm out of the actuator and disassemble it all. Drill a hole in the shift fork to feed the...
Great info here for me.
The ZJ shaft was all the way in. The abs ring was sticking out past the knuckle about 1/4". Laying them side by side compared to the TJ shafts and my two piece xj shaft it was almost 1.5" longer. I thought they were all the same but something is wierd here.
I...
Well I got hooked up with a whole TJ D30 from a buddy. I just pulled the shafts and bearings and everything went together just fine, no leaks and it all works great except for the ARb not engaging for some reason. I even used the calipers as mine have been having issues but now the front...
XJ is a 91. Axle is a HP 30 disconnect. I'm not sure the year on the ZJ one piece shafts but I think his was a 95.
Are the knuckle different too? The shaft actually sticks out pas the knuckle far enough that the bearing wont come close to bolting up. Thanks for the info. Wish I could get...
Ok so until i can get all my parts for the next axle swap a buddy hooked me up with a set of one piece D30 shafts from a ZJ. My disconnect is long gone and the other fixes quit working as well. So after running all over town finding the right seals and such I started this last night. Went to...
Hope to have time to call this week. these look awesome. Of course getting stuff up here is a pain usually and that's why the only bought parts on my xj are the coils, leaves, and winch. I just don't have the time or right tools to make something liek ts right now.
I hate to bring up a really old thread but...
I have access to a rubi housing for $100 or less. What would be involved in actually making it worth the $$. truss the axle, change the outer shafts, convert to 5 on 5.5 to match my D44 and manual hubs? Too much work?? Compared to what, building...
Was wondering if anyone has used it and is it worth my time? I have a ZJ v-8 tie rod now and it seems to be the same size as the YJ. I don't know much about the different steering setups and didn't know if it is much better with the tierod going knuckle to knuckle. I noticed the JCR steering...
