What are you doing to your rig - the continuing saga

But, no, I had to do the waterpump. It's a jeep thing.

Got metal in my eye. What a bitch....
Report Jim:
Get that eye looked at?
Still able to see spots?

I couldn't see a damn thing yesterday; but I remembered my eye flush class I had to take years ago, and the shard worked itself out after about an hour. Thanks for asking.

Anyway....I finally finished my tire carrier re-build. I didn't end up selling it and decided it would be cheaper and faster to just modify the existing one. So I extended the supports to go under the cut & fold with 3/16th tube, and angled the sides so it didn't look so boxy. And I got rid of the spindle box of doom. I like it a lot better now.

I'll get better pictures of it tomorrow once the paint dries.

Hey, what are you going to do with that garage floor mat when you leave?:gag:

The new owners have requested that we leave them.

Looking good Jim (though still BS you're leaving) :D

I've now had one of my eyes (usually left one) plucked out at a doctor...4 times I think, and drilled out an additional time...all except one of those I was wearing safety glasses, faceshield, or both.

The ONLY thing I've found to work 100% effectively...ski goggles. They're comfortable and nothing gets in.

As for me...I'm sitting here in pain because I got hit by the wire wheel on my grinder...again. Right to the stomach this time. I've already got one scar on my stomach from an angle grinder cutting wheel, and one on my hand from a wire wheel.

I've come to be more afraid of wire wheels than cutting wheels I think...

Another reason next buggy will be done by someone else...I've got a handful of scars or wounds that are SLOWLY fading from building sh*t.

Cutting wheels can bring the suck. I nailed to fingers on my left hand on the 4th of July. Ring finger took three stitches and the middle finger took ten. I cut through the bone on the middle finger. I get to see the doc today to get the stitches removed and to see if the bone needs to be broken and set with pins. Most likely it will need to be reset as it is a bit crocked.

Straight fingers are over rated.

LOL.

I broke my hand long time ago doing sheet metal and drilling through an I-beam. My hand is not as strong as one horse. I know I'm blind and weak and don't heal for shit anymore, so I almost always have two hands on the angle grinder. I know it's out to get me. :)

But, despite destroying my wrist somehow, I got this done.

It's a combo of a Tomken bumper, and the standard Mopar tire carrier available from 90-96, along with a hinge from Ruffstuff. Flores welded the axle stub to the box pieces, I booger welded the rest. It fits. We'll see how it takes bumpy roads. I already know shelves in Moab aren't it's friend. :)

The Moab sticker has been on there for 15 years.

Fred you are making me reconsider another jeep lol. Shhhhhh

Mike, I've had to replace one failed waterpump in 22 years. I put in the flowkooler because I wanted to, not because I had to. I'm very happy with my 24 year old, considerably modified, vehicle right now, I'll let you know if that changes after tomorrows trail run.

Just picked it up from it's previous owner today.

Stopped by NAPA and loaded up a big ass box full of fluids and filters to do my usual new to me vehicle ritual. Going to go though it this week coming up and replace all the fluids with new stuff.

Also been spending a lot of time on line ordering stuff listed below

-Roof basket
-4x Treadwright All Terrains in 235/75R15
-CB radio, antenna, wire, mount, ect.
-Couple of Shackles and a 20k lb tow strap for recovery
-Hi-Lift jack and mount for rack
-Lock Right for the front end

Added to the wishlist at Amazon
-All the parts needed to revamp the whole suspension to "UpCountry" spec.

Picking up tomorrow
-Hardware for home made quick discos.

Ordering this coming week
-AJ's Super Rock Rails
-Torn on front/rear bumpers. Probably going with Nate's 4x4. Not sure if I want to run a permanently mounted winch, no winch at all, or a receiver winch I keep strapped in the cargo area when wheeling and stored in my place when I'm doing the daily driver thing.

Not mine. But put the new Zues lights from Olympus offroad on my brothers wk. the light output is ridiculous.
