THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So there's a howling in my truck.

Only while coasting, in gear, and it starts going away (or just being too high of a pitch for me to hear) around 50-60 mph.

Push in the clutch, noise is gone. Put the trans in neutral, noise is gone. Doesn't matter what gear I'm in.

Wondering if the cracked 5th gear housing is putting a load on the output bearing on the transmission.

NBD my nv4500 whines a little bit, some are louder then others. You can shim the main shaft to tighten up the end play. They whine when it starts opening up. I should also have that cast iron housing end of this week or next week if you're still interested.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I think I might have to go to the doctors, I think I messed up my back. Its been really sore for a couple of days. This morning when I woke up, it took my half an hour before I could stand straight up it was hurting so bad. I can barely even sit in a seat without it shooting pain into me.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That truck looks good, but seems like most of the time I see a newer ram it looks like:

:dunno: I still like both of those. Of course, not as much as the two-tone.

My friends is a maroonish-red with chrome bumpers. I'll have to grab a pic of it when I check it out one of these days.

Yeah this isn't a normal whine .

Thanks, I ordered one last week. Going to throw it in this weekend.

That sucks. I'd definitely go see a doctor.

The new factory murdered out dodges look awesome

That happens to me a lot. Usually lasts months. You seriously have to wake up 30 minutes earlier to put your socks on. Driving a truck is like the worst thing for it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I think I'll own one of those sometime around 2020-2025.

It may or may not ever actually run while in my possession.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The grass is too short for my yard, but not tall enough around the truck itself. Also not patchy enough. Try again.

Bummer.

The grill hits me in the face as odd on those two. Much less and more pleasant on the one you imaged.

Either way I like the stance of the Ford the best. Both the Dodge and the GMC/Chevy sit to darn low in the front. Especially in person, IMO.
We got a new F250 at work, nothing fancy, stripper model with vinyl everything and it sits WAY higher than my truck or even the new RAM 3500 on the custodians has.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Don't you work at a school? WTF do they need a brand new F250 for?
I do.
Plowing snow, moving stuff, getting around, etc. Why would the school not have a few of them? It replaced a 2004 unit.
FYI, gov incentives are nuts on the truck.
2013 F250 XL, 6.2L gas job, 4x4, with light package, v plow, and power liftgate was $39K.
And I recall the it department too
Not my dept, but I did use it the other day to move a copy machine. ;)

I've found them to be appalling ever since they went to the vertical-style headlights a few years ago. yuck yuck yuck

I agree the headlights could be a bit smaller but the stance and the interiors are nice.
Not sure how I like the new GM/Chevy interiors. I have not sat in the new gen yet, looks funny though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I like the Ford styling too, that truck looks great.

During car shopping though, I've found pretty much all American car interiors are pretty terrible. They have gotten better over the years, but I would best describe them as clumsy and with bad materials. Foreign cars definitely do that better I would say.

Best example, look at the interior of the Camero. That is one of the worst interiors I've ever seen.

I guess. Now that I think about it, my high school did have a couple of trucks around for that kind of shit. Still seems pretty unneccesary to have a new truck to drive around like that, I'd run the old one in that setting until it rotted away. No sense replacing something that's perfectly good just because it's fully depreciated and off the books. Mileage had to be stupid low on the one they got rid of.

Then again, I don't work in a municipal setting, so what the **** do I know?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I can say Toyotas interiors are garbage, very low quality

This is exactly the fight we have over everything when working for a school.
Whether it be a 4 year old boat anchor of a laptop, someone hears "new laptops or tablets" and they freak because the school just got them 4 years ago or like above the new truck. It was an 2004 F250 5.4L that was used with a plow and a sander. How long do you think that lasts when you're doing 4 larger parking lots and about 7 miles of road/sidewalk? It's not just a simple driveway and it doesn't get done just once per storm. If it's snowing, the truck is in use. State mandates no surface left "unclean" because the buildings double as a shelter for the town (for storms like Sandy). BTW, we didn't rid of it. It's going to be used for a few more years.
Or carpets in some of the offices; the original carpets from 1975 were getting a big dingy with 100s of people every day walking on them, but that was a fight as well.

At some point every truck or piece of equipment has to be new. ;)

Thankfully my latest project is grant funded and will contain not a single cent of tax payer money and you can bet I'm going to promote the heck out of that. :)
