well hell i woulda took the sod :D

BK takes food stamps? WTF when i eat there its like 9 bucks of hard earned cash...

so i figured i would get some input from some guys who actually might have an unbiased opinion on the situation...

i have been in search of a 4bt cummins motor for my j10...i really am in no hurry, but i haven't really been finding anything even worth looking at. so in my researching i have started leaning towards the isuzu 4cyl over the cummins. basically they are easier to find, have the same displacement, similar power ratings AND they are sleeved motors and the cummins motors are not.

last week a guy on ifsja offered to sell me a complete 4bd1t drive train, and i am about 95% of the way committed to buying it. he has tuned up the motor and added an upgraded turbo. he has also taken care of adapting the flywheel to work with a chevy manual and is selling the drivetrain with a nv3500 5 speed and an np241. now the BIG selling point is that the whole thing was pulled from his 77 cherokee, which means it would be bolt in for my frame. the bolt on motor mount adapters, custom crossmember, clutch cylinders and linkages are all there as well as a clutch pedal from a j10 manual tranny. all i would have to do is clean it up, fab up some exhaust and cut the tunnel to add the manual shifter into the cab...he is including everything for $2500. basically the drivetrain is in PA and i would pick it up on my june or september east coast work trip. it seems like a no brainer to me. just saving myself the hours of fab work getting the motor set in right and all of the angles correct seems worth it to me. i really wanted an nv4500 tranny, but my guess is that if the adapter fits a chevy nv3500, then i should be able to make it work with an nv4500 if i ever have to...

what do you think? seems like it is worth it to me

sounds like money saved in parts to me.... it runs and you know all the parts work with each other..... if it were my project id jump on it

Do you have a particular fascination with diesel?

It's probably cliche by now in the off road world, but you could be into a 5.3 with the tranny for a thousand bucks and have lots more power and similar mileage.

its not going to be offroading...it will be for hauling a boat and an enclosed trailer. and the half ton isuzu conversions i found were all getting 25-30 mpg depending on tire size. on very rare occasions it might tow a vehicle, but thats not what i am building it for. if i wanted power i would just do the 6cyl cummins. i have found 4 or 5 of them for under a grand since ive been looking. as far as power goes, with the right tune and the turbo thats on it, that little isuzu is capable of 200 hp and 400-500 ft/lb of torque. stock the isuzu is around 125 hp and around 300 ft lb of torque.

First paycheck today from my full-time job at the Stealership, paid all my bills and still have $300 left over!

Can't wait for the checks from my part-time gig to start coming, that's purely play money!

So, apparently I've been driving on a bad u-joint since the last clean up.....oops. Think that may have been the popping noise I was hearing. Threw my spare shaft in and ill order a 760 joint to replace it. Replaced the pins and springs in my locker as well. Brad came through again with his help(pretty much doing the whole thing himself)!

Anyone know anything about RV water heaters?

I can't get mine to work. It won't light, appears no propane at the pilot light. Everything else has propane that is supposed too...

mac, what is the status of the thermocoupler? may want to check on it. Our old house in Kansas had an inground pool that had a natural gas heater. i fought that SOB for hours before Irealized teh thermocoupler had gone bad. I never woudl have known what it was or even to check it, but my whore neighbors boyfriend (for that week) came over and figured it out in about 2 minutes.

If you cant get it to work, I have a brand new 5 gallon electric hot water heater I could hook you up with.

Anyone here have an above ground pool?

my house came with one, it was great for 2 1/2 summers, summer number 3 half way through and the pump stopped working, amazingly enough about the same time a rather larger hole was discovered in the liner all the while the filter housing was cracked and leaked water, so last year i had an empty pool and now comes the time to either fix the pool or not. its a pretty difficult decision, its damn nice having a pool in the backyard for party's and BBQ's also nothing like laying in the pool on a hungover sunday morning but really that's about all its use. living in the Chicago land weather it does not really get opened until mid June and close up in mid August 2 or 3 months? really?

pros vs cons?

if you had a pool the busted this bad would you replace?

they are pretty cheap to replace, do it. we have a 4' above ground one and the kid loves it...It is fun to just be lazy in...if I ever get a free moment.

Our old house out in Kansas had a sweet in ground pool. It was fun, but it was a lot of work.

Your going to have to clean the pool anyways. I say you fil it will jello, invite a bunch of openminded barely clothed women. Then host an annual MWC get together and charge for admission and drinks. You could easily fix the pool and put a new pump in with the money you make.
