Anyone got a pic of the area underneath the rear seat? Looking at being able to mount my guns securely and out of site for when traveling and wheeling. If ya could, email them to [email protected]. Damned ITs have most photo sites blocked so I cant view posted photos on here. Thanks for the help as always.

Pull your seat up and look. Its not bolted down

Are you going to use the rear seat folded up? If so no joy, the rear seat pan gets too close to the hump for rifles.. IF you're folded down you have some more wiggle room as the seatback is soft.

Im underway, so, no access to the Jeep.

Are you sure? Couple of people have said they put Hi-lifts underneath, just needed to clearance the hump about 1/4 inch or so. Oh well, if not I will just build a false floor in the rear.

I'd rather go with a rifle you can break down such as a KelTec SU-16CA or Henry Survival Rifle than have to get exotic with the hump. I'd be concerned about how much force is put on the barrel if it's hitting the hump and has weight on either end from the seat deforming around it.

mount it in the over head Doc, it'll keep prevent hoodlums from car jacking you... And everybody knows anybody with a shotgun/rifle/series of handguns mounted in the over head isn't any body to screw with...

Some of us out here realize bad things can happen to good people. And they like to be able to do something about it. And it's perfectly safe, guns don't just go off on their own. Oh and notice he said securely. But staying away from politics, and a question for the OP:
Are you trying to mount a small gun safe in there?

I prefer out of sight, out of mind. First of all, unless you plan on bolting your locked gun case to the jeep, if someone wants it they'll take it. To avoid that, something like stashing under the seat would be a good idea. Could even run a cable bolted to something through the trigger guard and put a 3 roller combo lock on it to secure it.

Doc - If ya dont mind me asking, what are ya looking at storing back there? Obviously a handgun would fit easily under the seat, pistol griped shotgun would probably work well but scoped rifles may not. When I get a chance to, I'll go out and look here later and test fit my brush gun and see if it works.

I open carry my XDM, so it will either be my AR, Savage M10 or Benelli Supernova. Just depends on where I'm going and what I plan on doing. Out of sight is my main priority, a case just seems a little to obvious.

why does anyone NEED to drive around with a bunch of guns?

sounds like a really bad idea.

I'd look pretty funny walking down the street with a bunch of guns wouldn't I? Driving with a bunch of guns is a much better options.

The only adverse thing I can see here is it might break conceal carry laws depending on state law. But, here is my reasoning. The average police showup time is 24 minute, probably longer in Chicago. Personally I can reload several times in just a few minutes and they can clean up the mess when they finally arrive. And, I dont miss!

No safe, just the gun with some type of lock to keep it in place. I found a pic of a hi-lift mounted under the seat, so I think I might be able to make it work. Maybe a little more clearancing than the hi-lift needed and make a brace for over the barrel to keep it from getting bent. When I get home next week I will take some measurements and do a test fit.

Kind if hard to have a road rage incident if the gun is bolted or secured under the seat. By the time he gets out and gets it out of the jeep he would already be punched in the face so I don't think road rage would be an issue.

Driving around with a bunch of guns is only going to turn into a road rage incident

So, you are saying just being the presence of firearms will put a person into a sort of irrational blood rage? I work for UPS and you'd really be surprised how many firearms we ship and how many can be in any given UPS truck at one time....

No one ever misses! Well, not until they find themselves firing in a stressful situation trying to defend against an assailant...;)
Unless you have a lot of eyewitnesses, chances are part of the cleanup will be you. Shoot someone, even in self defense and chances are high you get taken in as well until they sort it out. You may or may not get your gun back if they decide it's evidence.

Depending on a person's personality, having a gun around can bring out more aggressive tendencies. Also, OP mentioned that he open carried a side arm as well, so that likely wouldn't be bolted or secured under the seat.

I think I should never take a picture underneath my seat. Who knows which creatures live there ;) Ok it's not that bad... but I wouldn't be fond of that. I'm not a gun carrier either therefore there might be nothing interesting to see... ;) But of course I would be curious about yours :) haha*

Im not looking to keep a gun under the seat at all times. 75% of the time when Im in my vehicle I'm on my way to or from the base, in which times, I cant have a gun with me at all. Only time I will have anything more than my side arm is when I am going wheeling in the middle of nowhere, or on my way to Michigan where I can go on some friends property and shoot with some buddies back home.
