As an afterthought, Russ decided to replace the push rods in the number 6 hole with .050 shorter ones. I don't think I'm smart enough to understand why.
Maybe to give a little more warm and fuzzy feeling that you won't experience coil bind with a hot engine at full lift? :dunno:

Is that a delrin replacement for the bushing/shim deal that's being taken off the shaft on the 2nd photo?

It replaces the seal, thrust washer and needle bearings. I had thought they were delrin but looked at the invoice and they are UHMW - from Longfield.

We're getting there, but not much time left.

The motor is in, but not running yet:

Tailgate is finished, waiting for paint and then the lights will get installed:

Seats and harnesses are in:

The front Deaver springs aren't in yet, but it's coming together.

Kind of nice to have a water jet handy to make whatever we need. Thanks a ton to Danny (s7tech) for making his shop and equipment available and for all his hours of work on the car.

This Teflon piece?

I have the Alloy USA hub kit http://www.quadratec.com/products/16103_0000_07.htm and wonder if it'd be worth doing on my setup.

Why aren't hubs designed so you could grease them externally with a pump vice having to remove them and hand job them?

Looks great guys. What did you do for the tie rod to clear the diff cover? I can kind of make out that you bent the drivers side but just wanted to make sure. I am doing the WJ conversion and trying to decide between rod ends and offset Chevy 1 ton TRE's.

Go with the offset 1 tons. We didnt have that option, the way our brakes are packaged they would interfere with our rotors.

I am fairly certain its not teflon that I received.. and when I ordered the page said UHMW. Odd.

I wouldnt bother with that hub kit. The unit bearing setup is far stronger, and there is no gain to economy. The only reason I did it was for 5x5.5 while keeping stronger internal parts than D44 stuff offers.

Wow, this is looking great Richard!! :yelclap::yelclap:

Are you guys bringing this hot rod east for the RCQ? You gotta see how well it does in some REAL slick rocks, and don't forget the mud/trees!!!

If so, the Yuengling will be cold and plentiful.

A.

I needed a washer cut down just a little.. Dan thought it would be faster to just make a new one.

Hands down the coolest thing we have in this car is the Hooker Harnesses.

If you've never been strapped in by a hooker.. you dont know what secure feels like.

I have absolute faith that my fat ass isn't coming out of the seat.. Richard was amazed by how snug they are compared to the harnesses in his unlimited class racer. I'll be buying these for the trail rig as soon as I recover from KOH financially.. :)

Have any of you looked up the torque spec on a 3/4" grade 8 fine thread bolt lately? I can tell you that I am not big enough to torque that bolt alone - it took two of us.

UHMW is basically the same thing, except cheaper. Holds up much better also (superior wear resistance and impact strength)
