Ford 6.0s

That was 1,000,000 of the 6.6L engine, not all sorts and sizes. You must know everything you are a mechanic...I know everything about Aircraft because I fix them...come on really?

1 mil isuzu powered box trucks vs. easily two or three times that cummins powered box trucks to heavy trucks. you're talking to a person who works on cummins powered trucks of all sorts and sizes....and not on the motors themselves, but on the rest of it. the trucks break down before the motors do.

cummins has the upper hand. end of story.

no sir you are wrong.....detroit does....now a detroit in one of those new International Lone star series trucks......mmmmhmmm ill take one all black and chromed out

there are more cummins in Petes, ford 650+ series, some freightliners, and a handful of other trucks, than there are International trucks.

Detroit has been dwindling for years. and My opinion is the best all-around diesel that is put into more than one application...a.k.a. passenger vehicles as well as fleet vehicles.

I am correct for the topic of discussion.

LOL, you don't even bring any facts, you just say "I am right, you are wrong, because I think so". Bring facts then we might value what you say. We are talking about small vehicles i.e. 3/4t and 1t trucks. Not Peterbuilt, Kenworth, Ford 650's.

no, what I am talking about is the fact that that Cummins is so reliable that they use them for many different types of vehicles. the ford diesels are NOT in multiple brands and types of vehicles. In fact, for an application that WILL have miles put on, and needs both the power and reliability to do it, ford uses Cummins powered chassis (ford 650 and higher trucks).

the cards are laid out, and Cummins is considered more reliable than a ford in the professional world.

Ok, cool it's just because they don't make high enough displacement motor's right? Which motor's came in those?

A 4bt would be awesome in an excursion.

My brother in law had an 07 the thing was junk. He treats all his vehicles like gold, but this thing made a monthly run to shop for every issue known to the mechanical world. My suggestion to him was to remove one bolt build a Dodge or Chevy around it and then replace the defective bolt.

Head to Wyoming or Nevada and talk to the guys running welding trucks or big gold mines.

I used to haul cars for a living and about half of my business was delivering trucks to mines out in Nevada. Seems like all we did was take new dodges out to replace the Fords. Had one guy tell me that his maintenance costs were double on his Fords compared to the Dodges they bought.

Now where I work in the oil field you will see about 10 Dodges to every ford or Chevy. They just hold up better in harsh environments. Just a fact...regardless of what the Ford guys will tell you.

until the dodge body rots out from underneath it and the front end goes bad yearly.

Duramaxes also had injector and injector pump problems in that first year or two when they came out. Other than that I haven't heard of them having any wide spread problems like the cummins dowel pin and the 6leaker head gaskets.

98.5-02 5.9L had injector pump problems, mainly it was the lift pump going out and killing the VP44. Put and AirDog or FASS on it and run 1oz. of 2-stroke per gallon and it should be golden.

That's what happened to mine 6 days after I bought it, new computer, injection pump, then later on an aftermarket lift pump.

just going to mention. You DO know that the ford 7.3 and the 6.0 (and I think even the 6.4) are ALL International Harvester engines, Right??

Well navistar actually. But IH had a hand in the whole thing too right?

not particularly. Navistar owns IH. they are two seperate companies, and Navistar had more to do with designing the 6.0 than IH did.

IH is just associated with it, and some guys I know who work for IH (dealers, parts distributors) are just plain embarassed by it.

Probably the IFS and the really low ground clearance.

Here in Northern Wyoming the methane/oil companies avoid the Chevys for exactly that reason, but a lot of their overhead staff are driving GM for the ride and interior...go figure.
