Searched with no threads found. If a guy has an 8.25 diff in his XJ and wants to go with rear disc brakes, will ZJ discs from an 8.25 be a direct bolt on?
I did this a few months ago....SOOOOO easy. Yes, get ALL brakes related parts for the Grand . IIRC my loner ZJ was a 97' from the U pull it JY. Be sure to get everything...calipers, slides, rotors, etc. Get new pads and shoes (for e-brake). Have the rotors turned when you get them. Also i did NOTHING with the brake booster prop valve....some do some dont. Like i said i did nothing i and it stops/hord 10X better than with Drums. I can even stop an a STEP hill climb!! Do a little searching and you'll have every write up you can find
VERY worth the the SMALL investment. I have like $50-$60 in it, including turned rotors.
So you will need to grab the brakes off a ZJ d35
First off, I'm almost 100% positive 8.25's DID NOT come in ZJ's. So you will need to grab the brakes off a ZJ d35, and as mentioned you will need to bore out the center hole in the backing plate so it will fit over the axle tube.
If your lucky enough to find a brake setup off a KJ (liberty) I'm pretty sure that will be a direct bolt on.
And you must not of searched right, becuase there are PLENTY of write-ups out there, heres some:
