Engine trys to stall out when i put it in R or D after start up

Hi,

i went wheeling yesterday and it went great i hit some deep water half way up my door.....but i made it out and got home ok.

Today i start up my truck and put it in R to back out of my driveway and it stalls out or hesitates a bit. Same thing when i put it in drive.

Its a 4.0L engine.

any ideas?

Am I understanding you mean half way up the door?

Check your distributor for water/moisture content. Could have screwed the alternator (they really should be mounted higher on 4x4s) so check the electrical system, but I would bet the dist is the problem.
