Go Jeep Fuel tank mod?

I've heard conflicting info on this.

Will the Go Jeep vent tube mod to increase capacity work on my '99?

I don't think so
I tried something like that on my 97 and it caused the tank to overflow out of the pump assembly seal.
First few times I did fit in some more fuel than usual, but after a while the seal started leaking, to the point that I can't fill the tank all the way... otherwise I leave a large puddle and a trail.

Can only do this modifaction on a steel tank up to 97. From then on only plastic tanks and not the same setup.
