For those of us who are new to the state, can you give some info on this event? Is it just for chopped up buddy-wannabe cherokees, or are there trail runs for mildly built rigs? Family oriented, or just partiers? I'd love to meet some XJ folks, but can't afford to kill my daily driver (and the CJ will hopefully be sold by then).
Thanks!

I'll be there for at least some of the event. When will the schedule be released?

If the funds are there to pay for the gas and food I am in.

Jeff will release something, he usually comes up with the tentative schedule.

The best part about where we hold our event is that it caters to wheelers from the completely stock, to the retarded modified. There are definitely some "partiers" in the group, but families are welcomed and encouraged to come. We want you family to be able to enjoy the sport that takes most of your time and money! There are a few people who bring their family out every year.

Just a basic run down of the event. We hold it in Buena Vista. The campground we use is great. The hosts are very accommodating, they have excellent facilities. it is just south of BV in Nathrop. We wheel all week, with usually a couple trail choices a day to suit everyones' needs. Friday night we have a nice catered dinner and hold a raffle for some great prizes. A lot of times there will be a down day for people to fix rigs, or families to head into town for some fun. Its a pretty good time.

I am thinking of driving up for this. I have alwasy wanted to go wheeling in CO, and depending on the finances I may come up on sunday and wheel for 3 days. I would stay longer but I work a commision based job with no vacation so I cant miss to much work

Hey, I resemble those remarks.

I about 80% sure I'll be there this year. I should know for sure in a few weeks.

I'm planning on it. The wife has made some noises like she misses camping, so it might be the whole crew.

If I can make my own fantasies come true, I'll have to get an individual space for my offroad camping trailer, but that is a long shot.

Oops. I meant buggy-wannabe Cherokees. Unfortunately, I don't have a link to edit my post.

I have no idea how my Cherokee will do since I haven't had a chance to wheel it since I bought it in late October. I imagine the 3.55 gears will suck.

I know the extent of the level of "modification" to the driver, so I probably fit in the retarded modified class.....

We've had groups as small as 20 and as large as 65 by the end of the week but 30-40 is normal. It varies from year to year and some people are there for the beginning of the week, others for the end of the week, and some are there for the whole week.

Be sure to check the campground regulations regarding dogs.In years past they've only allowed dogs in the individual campsites but not the group site.:(

Thought I'd post and say I'm hoping to show up Wed night through Sunday, but with the way things at work are right now I'm still not sure if I'll be able to take the two days off for that!
I guess at the very least I'll show up sometime Friday and hit Chinaman's Saturday!

Oh, come on.

I just installed another 12V outlet in the back of the jeep so I can power an inverter for my work laptop. The place has wifi. We just rolled out a new product and are installing it in Taiwan. This is life or death for my company, yet my boss is perfectly happy with cellphone and email.

Y'all need to get organized.

Dunno if I can pull this off guys. I may end up only coming down for the dinner/raffle.......

Still to do:
-Pull an AW4 from an XJ for a buyer
-Haul a '90 Caddy to the scrapper so the trailer is available
-Rebuild at least one coil over shock
-Install new calipers up front and bleed (one's locked up BAD)
-Make braces for front truss and weld up the cracks and braces.
-Swap out leaking radiator with a less-leaky one
-Locate some heims in town and replace a few loose ones on the track bar at a minimum, the others can probably wait

If I can't get the Truggy useable, then I'll just come up and hang for a day.....

I should be arriving Wednesday evening.

I've been under the weather since getting back from China and decided to give up on any upgrades for now. It is in good running order, but I wanted to add my hydro assist steering and a wristed radius arm. I have all the parts, but no get up and go. The doctor is running a ton of tests. They think the bug I got in China may be responsible.
