motor swap

what all would be required to swap a 1998 xj motor into a 2000/2001 cherokee sport sorry i dont know the exact year this post is for my freind he has either a 2000 or 2001 but i dont remember exactly

would it be as simple as dropping it in or is there other stuff that needs to be changed to

The ignition system is complelely different. 00-01 had coil on plug set up. So you would have to block the hole in the block for the distributor. Better to find an engine from a 2000-01 xj.

What exactly is wrong with the engine in the 2000 or 2001?
