35's 4:88's 14 mpg

IS this normal for a Xj with a 4.0 35's 4:88s for highway mileage?

The jeep and motor have 105000 miles on it, just replaced rotor cap plug wires and fuel filter.

Driving 65-70 mph at around 2750 RPMs i get an average of 14 mpg

Thanks for any help.

that's kinda high rpm's for getting good mileage... My guess would be that that's your problem.

....He have a 5spd, 4 banger or just drives in town a lot..

I have 4.10s on 35's and I get around 18-19 on the hwy.

....and that just confirmed my guess.

4.56's on 35 with a 4.7L stroker = 21mpg here in Colorado

3.55,31/10.5 = 15 mpg in colorado
lol. I have 3.07's and 31x10.5's and get the same.

how many who are posting numbers have actually recalirated there speedo?

Yeah, If your speedo is pegged when your cruising on the highway with traffic, your gears are too low and you are getting way higher numbers :)

I get like 17mpg highway. 36x12.50 radial, 4.88, ax15. 15 mpg mall crawling.

Not his dd, anything over 30 miles and he puts it on my trailer, he has a tera flex 4:1 too so crawling on the trails he runs 2-3 gear first gear it hardly moves

edit: its a 4cyl 5 speed to.. gets up to 75 fast but there its almost on the rev limiter. With narrowed d44's front and rear, he also runs 33 spline (rear) and 30 spline (front) and ox lockers he can hold it off the rev limiter on just about anything and not have to worry about breaking stuff. Im trying to get him to squeeze some 37" boggers in there and some bead locks... the 33's are small but he holds his own.
