Need help W/Tires & Wheels!

I have an '01 Classic with the factory 16" rims, long story short I got hit by a semi last month and locked up the brakes at 75mph...my insurance company gave me $$$ to replace one scratched rim and 2 tires...

My question is this:

I want to put BFG's on it...do I just get 225/75/16 BFG's, or do I get some 15" rims and go with 30x9.5x15's?

I'm kind of new at this, any help would be apprecatied...

15's are cheaper if that helps any
Personally I like paying less for my tires. The larger sidewalls will help to absorb a little more of the bumps too.
