Certain wranglers used short pinion d30's, You can't use those on an XJ d30

So is there some measurement I need to take to find out whether I have short pinion or not? Did you do a swap RCP?

Yup. I've done a few Short Pinion XJ dana 30's. Not exactly sure of the models or the differences, but there are short Pinion.

The folks at Randys Ring and pinion would have the definitive answers.

Low pinion TJ and low pinion cherokee D30's use the short.

10-4!! It may also be why I get away with so much lift without any issues,its like 3/4" shorter.Hey ,the TJ guys are doing it!

Well mine is a 93 xj sport high pinion, so I guess I don't have the "short" pinion.
