Hey guys, I am going to go ahead and have the driveshaft I pulled out of my Jeep last night rebuilt. The little cup area where the centering pin comes out is ground down on one side, and I think it's an area that would let dust in? if anyone knows different I would lube it up put new ball/spring/ujoints and run it. However, when in doubt...
That being said, anyone know a decent place close by (other than compton- not scared, just lazy) that can do it? Or does anyone have a shaft they can sell me? It's an 87.
I'm in Monrovia. Thanks,
Ed

Ive heard nothing but good about JE Reel in Pomona.

Yeah, I use JE Reel for all my stuff. Best part is, he won't sell you parts you don't need. If your ujoints are ok, he'll tell ya... if they are about to go, he'll tell ya that too.

damn i didnt know they were so close.....JE REEL = good stuff

Driveshaft Specialist in Irwindale....I've been going to him for over 20yrs now. Does excellent (fast) work and is very reasonable. He's sort of like the "Soup Nazi" on Seinfeld but, I won't go anywhere else. 1117 W. Foothill, (626) 334-2418 ;)------Hans

the "Shaft Nazi" just doesn't sound right :roflmao: i know its a long drive but driveline service in gardena does great work, and warranties thier shafts to 9000 rpm and 750hp they have built the shafts for 6 of my buddies street race cars, all low 11s. not like that matters on an XJ tho lol.

Rotflmao @ the sigs.... And yeah shaft nazi. I called JE Reel and he quoted me 145 to rebuild it, but also said it sounded like I could rebuild what I got as long as the ball seat is ok. Thanks for the suggestions guys, and the chuckles. I look forward to my first meet n greet.... As long as you don't make fun of me for my small - uhhhh tires.
