Wrong Transmission Fluid

I see all of the horror stories about using atf 3 or 4.
I have been having issues with my tranny and was wondering if this could be the cause.

Could someone tell me the syptoms of using the wrong trans fluid?

runs hotter burns up the tc lots of stuff.

Buddy put FD-4 in his (ford) and burned it up in a week

Well if you don't know what fluid type is in there then change it! Don't keep driving it if you have any suspicion it was changed with the wrong type of tranny fluid.
