expert welders... help?

I measured a million times and welded once. But I forgot to bevel the edges of a quarter inch 2x3 peice of rectangle tube that im welding to a peice of 3/16 flat stock plate. Im using this for a rear bumper for brackets that will bolt to the rear of the Jeep. Does this matter or can an experience welder make it just as strong with out having that beveled groove for a better weld?

With enough amperage it doesn't matter. Well, enough amperage and doing it the right way.

No need to bevel the edges on anything less than 3/8's. Just use the heat from the welder to get the penetration for a good weld.

Can you see heat marks on the backside, like it's burned it? If so you've got reasonable penetration, if the weld bead goes all the way thru then you've got full penetration.
