I finally got my hands on a overhead console for my heep (97) but it didn't come with the bracket(s).

Anyone have some pics with dimensions so I can fab the brackets myself?

try www.allchryslerparts.com or your local dealership. You only need Part Number 55352518. It's not expensive at all and they ship by US Mail.

They only say that when they don't want to look it up or order from the central parts depot. allchryslerparts will get it for you.

I'll check it out, thanks.

In the mean time I'd still like to get the dimensions if anyone has them....just in case.

I'll second these guys; I've ordered from them on a number of occasions and their prices and service are excellent. Matter of fact, the injector insulators I ordered from them per this thread (http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=104266) just turned up yesterday. $29 for all six, shipped.

Yes. I understand that I can buy it from an online source. I was simply asking if anyone had the dimensions handy so I can build my own.

I would order over making it, the bracket holds the back of the OHC with a pressure fit, for $5-10 save the headache. And I have one and no-offense its a PIA to drop it down to measure it, at least in mine but I added it and it fits a little snug.

Nobody is yanking your chain. The bracket is a highly detailed stamping that would cost you over $500. to prototype one piece on the CNC machines at shop I work in.

Good Luck.

A bracket from any XJ/ZJ or Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth van or car w/the overhead will work. Make sure the headliner is firm otherwise it will rattle on ya.

I got ripped off, mine cost just under 7 bucks. :laugh3:

ZJ brackets are slightly different. The 'hooks' only slighty engage the 'ears' on the console and tend to come loose allowing the console to flop around, as you put it.

ZJ left, XJ right. Notice the location of the hooks in regards to the cross beam ceiling support.

Jeepzz - Do both brackets work with either ZJ/XJ/Mini van console? If so, you say the ZJ one only slightly engages, does that mean the ZJ bracket is better?

No, slightly is not good, fully engaged is better. :)

I meant XJ bracket :)

Anyway, any idea if they are interchangable?

JEEPZZ

The XJ brackets are interchangeable, pre97 & 97+. The XJ bracket will also work with the other consoles you mentioned (even better since the hooks are offset to allow for full engagement).
The only differnece is you'll need to spin the bracket around so the 'hook's are positioned at the opposite end.

Notice the pre & post 97 XJ brackets are identical, only where it is marked "forward" (FWD) is different. Just spin it around to match whichever console you are using.

While we're on the subject, the temp sensors are also interchangeable.
The early style is no longer available but just grab the newer style from a 97+ XJ or ZJ.
pre97 on the left, 97+ on the right

Ok, I've ordered the 55352518 for my, what I think is a ZJ console without electronics. Hope it works!

On a different note for the temp sensor when I did mine I just used a Dodge Caravan sensor, they're all pretty much the same thing.

FYI - Part number 55352518 has been discontinued by Chrysler

Unless there is a dealership with it in stock, you are SOL
