i just bought a set of uppers and lowers RE SUPER-FLEX.
they are used, but like new condition. but they are missing
bolts to connect to axle. i downloaded directions, they say to used
hardware supplied in kit. wonder if anybody could tell me if
this is anything special. maybe special size,or thread??
kinda want to install tomarrow.

thanks

they are metric, so grade 10.9. I forget the sizes. I know that the LCA bolts have a 21MM head, and the UCA bolts are a 15MM head.

Why not just use the hardware thats already on your XJ,its the same!

I just did this kit a few weeks ago, the frame side uses the same stock bolt but they supplied what appeared to be a slightly bigger grade 8 bolt for the axle side. best bet would be to call RE

because up here in the north he will be likely cutting the frame side bolts with a sawzall. I had to cut both LCA bolts. it sucked.
Road salt locktight get's to them.

If it's the superflex joint on the axle side (I don't own REs so I don't know which side they put them on) they use a 9/16" bolt.

I also think the stock bolts are 14mm and in that case a 9/16 bolt will work since it's only 0.011" larger than a 14mm.

The small superflex joints use a 3/8" bolt which would either be 9mm or 10mm.

My guess...either a 14mm or 9/16" will work for the lowers.

For the uppers, it's either 9mm, 10mm, or 3/8" (I know not much help.)

CALLED RUBICON FOR SIZES, THE LOWER BOLT AXLE END IS 9/16-12PITCH
UPPER AXLE SIDE IS 10MM X 80MM LONG......GRADE IS 10.9 = GRADE 8 OR BETTER.
HAD MINE PUT IN TODAY AT LOCAL GARAGE...I DIDN'T GET THE BILL
YET. BUT THEY WORKED FOR HOURS TRING TO GET THE OLD ARMS OUT.
GLAD I DIDN'T TRY AT HOME!!

GOOD LUCK

Sometimes its a bugger of a job, sometimes a breeze. I have reused the factory bolts and bought new.....sometimes you ruin one or two as the axle torques and you try to "thread" it out. Its goo to have spares on hand.

Hey, I see you are in manchester!! I am a bit south in meriden. Howdy neighdor!!

Good luck,
CW

Thanks for the specs guys.

Like mentioned above, mine need replacing because of the abuse from road salt, constant wheeling in mud / sand / gloop and taking them out a couple of times already.

Also, in the UK we are mostly metric so sourcing imperial stuff is tricky, I need to know exact details or the suppliers just don't want to help.

Thanks again, James.
