d44 carrier removal

can't get the carrier out of the housing WHATS THE TRICK
used a rag to mesh the pinion with ring gear didn't work
the race and bearing will spin but doesn't come out :rattle:

wrench on a ring gear bolt. turn the pinion so the wrench hits the diff and leverages the carrier out a little. then just pry it out at that point.

A couple of pry-bars should work; A buddy's winch connected to a strap arround the carrier may do it. A sure-fire way is a housing spreader (like Dana says)--but most pupu that idea; I guess it's like asking for directions.
