Trouble with my rear end!

I have issues with my rear!
No, supositories won't help!
Well, I had to tear it apart again this eve.
Seems my spool is acting like an open diff.
the short side shaft isn't turning with everything else.
I pulled rear is back out and the shafts are pulled out and I am scratching my head.
The shaft is long enough, it goes quite aways into the spool.
They are not backwards the long side fully engauges and works fine just sticks out an inch.
I am puzzled!

BTW,This is a Waggy 44

I'll bet your trying to run a 28 spline shaft in a 31 spline spool. JIM.

Dana 44's never came with 28, or 31 spline axles.

i dont know anythign about waggy 44s in particular, but if any of them came with the 19 spline d44 shafts, that could be the problem?

they did come in 19, 27, 29, 30, 33, and now 35 :wave:

I'm betting that the shaft is to short. Or he's trying to use a stub shaft as an inner.

That sounds like a Waggy AMC 20 shaft, they use the same retainer, and are close enough in length that you'd never notice it. Never seen or heard of a 29 spline 44, but I'm willing to be proved incorrect!
