smog and v8 question

okay, I searched a ton, but no answers.

I've got an ls1 that I want to swap into my 88 xj. I have pretty much everything figured out, well enough anyhow. But my question is how in the heck can I get it smogged in CA? I know it'll put out better emisions than the 4.0 in it now, but it won't pass the visual. Is there any magic solution?
