Will the carrier cross-shaft come out without having to remove or grind the ring gear on a stock 3.07 D30? Just asking as i will be putting in a lock-right this evening and need to find out if i need to get shims, gear marking compound and a torque wrench to re-adjust backlash and such after removing the ring.

looks like you do have to remove the ring gear...

but - you shouldnt have to set up the pattern again as long as you keep track of the shims on the carrier its self.. - right?

here was an install that i read...

When I installed my aussie locker I just had to remove the ring gear. This was very easy, just make sure you re-install it exactly like it came off. There is a retainer pin you need to tap out to remove the cross shaft from the carrier.
