Will a 97 steering shaft fit into my 93?

Pulled a box from a 97 today to tap for hydro assist and went ahead and took the steering shaft off the column too. Will this (length and spline interface) work on my 93? The current shaft has a bit of slop in it.

Do I interpret this to mean that it won't fit, or that you still lack an answer? I've wondered the same thing, because my 95 shaft has some slop in it, and the later ones telescope without having to hit anything first, but so far I haven't seen the answer, and I was hoping you'd go ahead and be the guinea pig.
