Door light problem

Hi all, I have searched but cannot find answer to this problem... Jeep is a 93 XJ RHD, Interior lights work when any door opens except drivers door, key in ignition and lights on buzzer work when drivers door opens. Also interior light goes off straight away if locks are operated from drivers door switch. Weird, door pillar switch looks ok. Any ideas, suggestions, welcome.

pull the pillar switch and verify that the wires on back arent frayed, and that the switch itself isnt shorting-

usually the door switch will go bad with age before it dies...but Ive seen some get waterized, and some rotated and shorted. Mine requires me to grab it and twist it around for it to work.
