my 89xj cruise control is dead. anybody had to trouble shoot? i do the highway to and from work and would like to fix if i can.

Check your vacum lines for leaks, on an 89 thats a good starting point.

Do your heater a/c controls all work? If not, then it's most likely a vacuum leak to the canister in the front bumper.

If not, it may be the multi-function stalk itself. Had mine replaced twice on my '90, once under warranty. Cost about $150 at the dealer.
