I have an 88 Cherokee that I have been stripping. The odometer says 215k. The previous owner said the owner before him said work was done to it, who knows. There is minimal oil on it and it runs smooth. Anybody think it's possibly worth saving for backup or should I just strip it for parts?

keep it and just replace the timing chain and head gaskets and valve cover gaskets and things like that so if you some how blow the new/newer/rebuilt motor you can have a backup

It's ALWAYS good piece of mind to have a spare major component on hand for when bad things happen. OTOH unless you have the room to store it (make it somewhat varmint-proof) and don't plan to move anytime soon, it may end up a burden.
