engine swap q?

Engine will bolt right in. The manifolds are different, the fuel injection is different, and the CPS is different which means you need to use the flywheel/flexplate from the old engine.

Oh, yeah -- the sensors are all different, so you'll need to use the sensors from the old engine. For the 88, the coolant temp sensor that provides data to the ECU is low on the driver's side of the block. The temp sensor in the head only feeds to the gauge. The 96 uses one sensor in the thermostat housing to do both jobs. Not sure if the 96 engine will have the holes there for the 88-type sensors.
 
Would he need to change out the front wiring harness too?
