The main ECU on an 89 4.0 is the metal casing under the dash (Above drivers legs) correct?

tes, and the trans controller is attached to the knee bolster on the passanger side if equipped with an auto trans

I pulled the one in my parts jeep for somebody..... Silver box says bendix.....

thats it but you cant mix up one for an automatic with a manual.
