The bench seat rattle -- not a problem, but irritating.

Jeepsqueak

So the bench seat in the back of my XJ has taken to making the most irritating of squeaking and rattling sounds; it seems to be associated with the latch that holds the seat in the upright position on the driver's side. WD-40 seems to grease it along for a couple of days, oddly; but shortly thereafter the rattling returns. Anybody have this problem? Simple fix?

Every few months, I cover the latch ends in electrical tape. The tape eventually wears through, and the squeak returns, but it only takes 5 minutes to fix. You may have to use more/less tape to get the latch to work properly, and the squeak to stop. Easy.

I jammed pieces of dense foam in the latches. Now I have to push pretty hard to get it latched closed but the extra tension has kept it from rattling.
