Is there enough room in the axle side control arm bracket to just weld a flat plate for a skid? Or do I need to bend them.

i would say you will need a bend.
you could always tack it so that the opening is where you need it, then fill in the gaps with weld. thats what i did.

I have it tacked on for now but this is on my new housing and I want to be able to just swap it in and go. Thats an idea to. Dont weld it all the way on yet. All 1/4" too.

i welded mine flat on stock mount. it didnt fit, my RE arms didnt clear. the rubber bushing it looks like TNT uses would be about the same size i would imagine, and would cause the same issue. just take the outside diameter of your axle side joint. stick it in there and make sure there is clearance.

Whats the diameter of the rubicon bushing?
