Anybody have cross reference for numbers on Renix ECU's?

My ECU took a dump. It came from an 88 4.0L with AT. Its numbers are S101155201A and 53007842. I need to go "shopping"

Noted - I'll pillage through my box later and see if anything comes up. I gotta get some sleep first (I've had my coffee, so I'm ready.

(Yeah, I know what time it is. 1) Coffee only keeps me up until bedtime. 2) I'm nocturnal.)

Numbers are on a bright yellow card on my desk so I see it when I get up later to-day.

If you're going shopping at the JY, any Renix ECU for a 4.0 automatic will work. The later the year, the more aggressive/responsive fuel and advance curves. I have one out of an 89 I could get the number off of if you need it.

Someone told me your eyes were yellow and glowed in the dark. :laugh3:

Half marks - they're usually red. Blood red. (Not bloodshot, blood red. Something a little more sinister than fire...)

As I mentioned in the other thread, I didn't have a chance to dig through my box to-day. I'll work on it to-morrow (Sunday) and let you know.

I checked in my stash. 8953005428 is 1990.

The factory tended to supercede older model ECUs with the current model ones. When we ordered one for an 87 and it was 1989 or so, we got the current year ECU as a supercession. The ECUs evolved and horsepower figures went up with each evolution.

FWIW, when looking at part numbers, some will be 10 characters, some 8 characters. Just drop off the "89" at the beginning. Chrysler was still making changes to AMC/Renaults part numbering system in 1990.

I have a 8953005406 out of an 88 automatic. Pulled from my wife's 88 Cherokee when I put the 1990 ECU in it.
Just for grins I checked RockAuto's site and they only list auto or manual, same for 87 to 90. About $100 exchange.

Here's what I found from the factory parts manual...

87/88 XJ,MJ 6 cyl. Auto 5300 5406
87/88 XJ,MJ 6 cyl. Man. 5300 5407

89/90 XJ,MJ 6 cyl. Auto 5300 5428
89/90 XJ,MJ 6 cyl. Man. 5300 5429

6 cyl. leaded fuel (export) 5300 7474

I looked up the number from yours at ChryslerPartsDirect.com and it lists it as 87-90 4.2(?) F.I.
