I need a little advise here.
I'm bolting a 1993 AW4 into my 1988 MJ. My main reason for doing this was to get the 23 spline output. I'm going to run it with manual controls, so no need to worry about electronics.
My problem came when bolting the flexplate to the torque converter. I'm using the stock 1988 flywheel and the same bolts that came out of the MJ. When I put the bolts through the flexplate and into the torque converter, the bolt does not fit snugly into the plate. I can ever so slightly rotate the torque converter behind the flex plate. I only put 2 bolts in, and decided to stop because this is a weird issue.
Is this normal? Do I need a new flex plate? The holes do not look ovaled....just look big. But I have been running the same flexplate and bolts for 4 years now.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
