Ok so Im doing a rock-lizard-esque BB on the wife's new Rig. I have the stock spring packs from my cherokee for the rear, and will probably just use a spacer for the front, for the time being at least.

Part number for ZJ Up Country Shocks for Monroe Sensatrac is 37193... but NO ONE sells them anymore apparently. Autozone has a crossreferenced one for Gabriel or something like that.. but no one has Monroes... i want some decent shocks for her DD

The rear shocks (MJ rears) I have found, part number 37029... so no worries there

Also, Should i drill a new hole for the trackbar?

Thanks
-Brian

Try a Sears with a tire/battery department. I bought some there.

RockAuto.com has them.

anyone have experience wih the Gabriel Ultas?

I have the Gabriel Ultras (97 ZJ Upcountry V8, taller than stock)on the front of my xj, they are pretty decent. Definitely better than my worn out low end blue monroes that were on the xj when I got it.
Why not just buy a set of RC hydros. I have pair on the rear. Close enough in price and can get a deal if you PM Grimus.

JK takeoff work, but either have to press out sleeve in lower/install stock par pin, or run BPE's

Sounds Like I might go the Gabriel Ultra Route, for 33$ a piece new, and call it a day. This is the wifes rig, and im trying to build a good tow/dd rig out of it.

Im starting off with:
1. Stock Leaf Pack with extra XJ Main and Second leafs added
2. Front Coil Spacer/ pad isolators to match (trying this first, but Most likely will change this in order to get a stiffer suspension, thought about V8 Grand Cherokee coils, but The results are so questionable, id maybe better do aftermarket.)
3. Gabriel front ZJ Up CountryShocks
4. Gabriel Rear MJ Shocks
5. Relocate brake line mounts
6. Homebrew 1" T/C drop (if needed)
7. Swaybar links
8. Drill new Trackbar hole/axle end
9. WJ Control arms

Im trying to build something that can run 31's, stock offset wheels, and with the correct bumpstopping(the sways, both front and rear, will not ever be disconnected) be able to fully turn and articulate without scrubbing.

Lift is more for looks and comfort of loading than offroad... I have an about to be 3 linked XJ on 6.5"

Do many of you guys re-drill for your track bars or are you leaving it as is??? I see lots of people doing both, it seems!

Also, are WJ lowers a straight bolt in? I believe they are?

also, what are the correct part numbers for the right legth gabriels??

nevermind, looks like Rock Auto has Reflex Monroes :D:D

I got the Monroe 37193 shocks from Rock auto about a year ago. Unfortunately they were not as long as listed on Rock Lizards web site. I called Monroe and they said there was an error on the old chart that shows it is 24.25". That shock does not show up on their current chart. They also told me they no longer make that shock. I ended up using the original YJ shock Rock Lizard recommended, the Monroe 37120. With a 3" Lift and 31" tires they work great.

the WJ lowers almost bolt in.
you have to cut the bushing sleeve down that is in the control arm.
some write ups say to use a grinder, i used a sawzall, less heat, then i used the grinder to smooth off the cut, and get it straight / level, stop every minute or so and put water on the sleeve/bushing to cool it.

This info might help compare shocks. I copied it from someone's post a long time ago and then added new shocks I found. The Doetsch shocks are only $39 each at LowRangeOffroad.com. They seem to be about the longest travel you can get for the price.
