Here is a sneak peak at the rear bumper/ tire carrier that I just finished. I started with a 4x4 3/16" and built on from there. It's mounted with 2 1/2" x 3" x 1/4" posts that slide inside to the rear unibody with nutserts welded in for the gas skid. Also, mounted to the two factory positions with 1/4" plate. Built in hitch, 3/4" D rings tied into the rear posts. Quarter guards are all 1/8"
Comp4x4 1750lb spindle and sleeve for the carrier and the tire carrier in built out of 2x2 1/4" with an adjustable telescopic tire mount. latch and safety pin.

Painted rustoleum textured 7220 paint.

You can also see a sneak peak at the Tube fender flares that I built at the same time.

I take it you left the rear quarter panel guard long to protect the tail light...?

I kinda like the idea but do you really think that the panel isn't going to just bend and smash the tail light anyways.

Great job. X2 on more pics of flares......

Appreciate all the possitive comments. I'll post up some shots of everything maybe by this weekend, and I'll provide some more detail on how everything was done. My goal was to build everything as clean and strong as possible.

The flares were made to be removable, but I can stand on them, so they'll support some weight.

The quarter guards were left long so I can box the lights in and add LED's. Plus, I they look a lot better that way.

Did you put a bend in the 1/4 guard before putting them on? Or just let the body pull them tight?

I built two sets and did them both a little different. The first set I wrapped around a telephone pole and used a ratchet strap to make the bend. The second set I placed in the cutter in front of my house and drover over it. They both did what I wanted them to do in terms of the bend and worked fine.
