i have read on a few sites about guys swaping or fliping the rear leafs for extra length...are they jsut turning them around on the back to gain length? or am i thinkin somethin else

Yep, just turning them around. The center pin that locates the axle is not in the middle of the spring, it is offset by about 3-4". So flipping it around gives you 6"-8" of longer wheelbase.

and a weaker spring. they arn't designed to run backwards so breaking them will be common if you just flip them around. find some F-150 or chevey leafs that are built that way.
