1998 map sensor removal

when removing map sensor from 1998 4.0 throttle body should the rubber booty separate from the metal piece entering the throttle body or remain connected, don't want to break anything so though I'd ask
 
got it out thanks, metal tube wouldn't come out so just removed map and booty
