NP231 and NP231J

Ok thanks is there a way to tell what year have what splines? The one i'm looking at:
"Main output shaft (already cut and tapped for the H&T flange), Long 23 spline input shaft, Front Output shaft, Chain.
from my 97 NP231J T-case
includes tail cone from same year t-case with 39 tooth gear and installed"
I have a 2001 XJ Sport with a NP231..Thanks in Advance Chrysler 8.25 rear and Dana in the front

Long input is behind an AX15 after 94

AW4 (post-'90)
The AW4 had 21 splines through 1990. In 1991 (the same year the 4.0 HO was introduced) the AW4 splines increased to 23.
