XJ re build

yea i decided im going to wait till i start the cage. Ill just make a card bord template and cut them out with the plasma cutter. I have a big sheet of 3/16" steel anyways...Just have to find the time to do it. Iv been so busy working on equipment the past few days. :banghead:

Nope, I went with a .060" which was slightly thicker then stock. Its welded all the way in solid. The top of the whole frame rail is boxed in with .110" steel know welded solid. The long arm is done. Got some upgrades axle shafts in the front. All the floors are welded and fiberglassed. Except for in the rear. I have to finish plating the back section.

Its getting painted dark mattalic gray. The floors are just primed. Have to finish the back and prime it then get it all sprayed with bedliner. Also have to trim the front fenders. Also have to finish welding the sliders.

nope theyre right. Im friends with the guy who works for Rock Krawler and he said everything looks good. Its fun to go wheeling with the owner of RockKrawler. he has some sweet wranglers built...

New shims in the rear axle, 6 deg, welded the axle tubes, started on the body work. Im just going to pull all the dents out and try not to use any body filler. Other wise it would just come off when the xj decides to re-mark all its territory with the new color (trees). :)

hoping to have it done pretty soon to invite 4 wheel off-road up here. I missed the last time. Should be ready for primer by this weekend. Have the new suck down winch controler all set up so its right on my shifter. Now im just waiting for my electrical board to get here for all my switches and im waiting for a pulley to start designing how the suck down winch will be mounted. http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/features/131_0705_adirondack_jeep_club_new_york_trails/index.html

Just waiting on my pulley to get here so i can mount it to the axle and run the cable underneath it to the other frame rail. This will give me a 2:1 mechanical advantage. I hooked the cable strait to the axle and it pulled it in pretty good. The power in and out will be nice. Just waiting for my hood to get here then it will be almost ready to paint.

made a little progress today. Got side tracked and beefed up the 8.25 cover. Thinking about beefing up some other covers (d30, 8.25, d35) and selling them. Also welded up the steering brace and made an inner brace like the c-rock one, got the suck down winch all mounted, fenders trimmed, the interior is done and a few other small odds and ends,

I have a feeling you will be redesigning/removeing your suck down winch in the future.

whys that? Theres only one other way to mount it with the steering and i would have to put an engine lift in,.

Didnt spend a ton of time on the dents. Just going to be re-dented before the end of this summer anyways. Have all the tape pulled off tonight and rode with my brother doing some winter wheeling today

Took the TJ out in the snow... Went wheeling with Adirondack trail challengers/RF today... I had the smallest rig there. Rockwell axles & dana 60s are the norm for these guys... Nothing smaller then 36"boggers...
Here are some pics..

nah i would but i think i found a use for them. I found a 2 door xj i might put them in. and run 36's and just weld them up. I would run leaves all the way around. Either that or im going to stay on plan and build the cj5. I was also thinking about putting them in this xj but its hardly worth it with all the work i just did to the stock axles. They have 4:10 gears in them and the d44 has lock outs so i made out okay only paying 150 bucks for them. They will be in something before the snow is gone though,,,,,

And your name isnt red yet?????lastara
it will be, im a paid member of about 3-4 other clubs and ec4wda so i need to drop one to join. :laugh3: The only thing that has me worried is when i join a club its to wheel, not web wheel. And everyone else is quite aways from me so that get expensive to be traveling every time for a run.
