Oh, I smell ya. You included the 260 joint shafts also.
I know where your coming from. It always seemed to me they "upgraded"
the U-joint and degraded the shafts by removing material around the cap which weakened the ear. I finally took someone's advice here and tack welded the caps inplace to increase reliability.
G2 Inner Chromos were only $300 so I just ordered them from 4WP March madness sale. My next question is can I take my current passenger inner with the 760 joint and put it on the older hub I have that has a smaller u joint? Are the caps same size? Just wanted to build some spares in case I break a joint.
