Nope. Plans changed when I couldn't find the right late model...

All I can say is The zj will be much happier with my VERY expensive order from Clayton's last night :viking:

Also stopped at baxters and grabbed a new Oil pan/valve cover/Rear main/thermostat..

I initially went to the columbia lot, hoping to grab the Lebaron vents i had been told about friday, but sunday they were gone

Ended the day with pulling the Headliner out, Fixing the driver side window motor issue (broken wire) and wiring up all 4 speakers with new wire

I'll be hitting DMV up tuesday so i can actually start driving it! It's shaping up to be a great little pavement pounder.. But i forsee a Budget boost and 30s soon! I dont have too many plans, Other then a rail shifter/sub/tinted windows and possibly Converting to open cooling.. I plan to keep the exhaust as quiet as possible (i've really grown to like how quiet the late model i've been driving is)

I thought i would remove my front bumper today but got all six bolts out and its not moving, looked at it closer it looks like it was welded on in a spot or two

.... I still need to do my rear main, I have some of those exact same parts (gaskets) just sittin my garage, been there for months. Let me know how that goes, and if you have any tips/tricks, or things I should do while the pan is dropped. (gonna go with the one piece oil pan gasket)
....I've been putting this off because it's not leaking all that bad, and i'm a little hesitant on running into a problem and not having another vehicle to drive if something goes wrong.

Easy job just time consuming... But it can be done in half a day if your focused

Prop the rig up on large jack stands and let the front axle droop.
Drain the oil & Pull the starter
Drop the 20ish 11mm bolts and 4(?) 13mm bolts to drop the oil pan
Pull the last bearing cap and use a small punch to tap the seal out of the block (screw driver can break a chunk of the journal.. Use caution!)
Slide the new one in and make it fit flush
Replace the lower peice in the bearing cap
Replace the cap & torque to spec (80ft/lbs iirc)

Put it all back together and viola!

Thanks Scott!
I read somewhere that there's something that needs to be done to/applied to the new rear main before or as it gets installed.... like a special loctite gasket maker something-or-other to the corners/edges or something, (i'll have to try and find where i read this and post the link) ....you know what I'm talking about?
(by the way, i've got the new two piece rear main, is that what you went with?)

OK, Found what it was I was referring to....
There's a couple places I found that refer to using an Anaerobic Gasket Maker (Chrysler Anaerobic Sealant or Loctite 518) ....(it cures when there is no oxygen) on both angled edges of the rear main bearing cap mating surfaces.
I stumbled across these when I was doing the research on the replacement procedures and whether or not I could do this myself.

I ended up picking up a loctite (equivalent) of this just in case.

I've done 4 chrysler rear main seals (3 of them were 4.0liters) and never needed that. Just an FYI.

There's only about 12k miles on my ZJ's Rear main, And i see slight staining of the dirt on the oilpan that tells me its starting to leak again

I personally hate fluid leaks.. They stress me out!

Luckily mine just barely seeps. No drips as of yet.
Thanks for the info Scott!
