What did you do to your XJ today

Got home and aired up the tires. (They were still aired down from the trip that broke it) checked all the bolts one last time then hopped in and went to pull out the driveway. And nothing.... it would not roll forward at all. When I put it in gear and gave it a little throttle it would more like push forward like the front brakes were locked up. So I bled the brakes twice and tried again. Same thing ..... so I went inside and used this wonderful function called SEARCH. Found out that I couldn't use the bearing assembly from an 89 d30 with the rotors from a 98. Wich I put on yesterday because it operated smoother than the other one. So instead of getting the alignment done today I got to swap the bearing assembly back to the way it was. And what do you know. It rolled! Drove it around the hood for a bit and other than the steering being way off and what I think is my rear left drum making squeek noises it drives ok.

Installed one Reid racing knuckel drivers side, In the morning I will install the passengers side, then start measuring for my drag link and tierod. I think all thats left is to fabricate some front shock mounts, bleed the breaks and install some gear lube then I to will be ready to take mine for its first drive.

Cable conversion for transfer case shifter.

Started putting the Dana 30 back under the xj after putting the aussie in it. It's been sitting for a while with not having any time to work on it. Finally decided it's time to get it back on the road. Hopefully I can button it all up tomorrow.

put pinion degree shims in yesterday and just ordered Brown dog super header motor mounts/brackets, fixed stripped skid plate bolts and replacing tranny mount today

A 100,000 Damn I wish I had something that low in miles .I get happy about 175,000 =)

Did you catch the key words? (First 100k mile service) This is my 5th XJ and I plan to keep this one for awhile. I have been neglecting it for the past few months. So I guess since I'm laid off I will get it cleaned back up serviced and ready to sit in the shop.

I did my first drum brake service today and installed new shoes and hardware on the d44.

So many unfamiliar parts in there - I'm glad I did it one side at a time.

The adjustment cable was ground to a pulp on one side, so I'll have to get a new one and put it in tomorrow.
There were all kinds of shavings from the wire getting pinched between the drum and shoe..
..this must have happened way back when WAXJSKIER had this axle.
(Because I never heard a thing, and I imagine that would be noisy)
I think that cable mostly helps with the self-adjustment.
I don't have the FSM on this 87 axle, since my rig is a 97.

Check out that crack down the entire center of the shoe!

I also noticed this cylinder is leaky, but I guess I'll let it leak for a while..
