Ive heard mixed things about foam. One thing was to keep it submerged in gas when the rig sits. so I try to do that with mine.

No issues, but it has only been like 7 months. Time will tell.

evidently the issue with foam is it breaks down in pump (ethanol mix) gas, especially when exposed to heat and vibration/sloshing. I'm gonna ask my buddy (Polymer Sciences major) what plastic would be ok in gasoline. From that i've seen HPDE is what gas cans and oil containers (also Gatorade bottles?) are made of.

HDPE is good for gas, though IIRC it's coated or passivated on the inside with something to extend its life.

A whole lot of soda/water/other beverage bottles are made from HDPE, iirc milk jugs are generally LDPE.
