This thread will close, and the nomination period will end 2/21/19 at 9:00 AM PST.
Nominations shall be open for two weeks followed by an election period of one week.

Section 3, Director Requirements
a. Candidates for office shall be members in good standing for a
minimum of one (1) year.
b. Director must remain a paid member in good standing for the
duration of term. Expiration of membership status for over thirty (30) days
will be considered as resignation of director status.
c. Candidates are expected to be able to accomplish the tasks as described
in the job description pertaining to their desired position, Article V, Section
2.

Role: Section 2, subsection b

Vice President: The Vice President’s primary role is to be available if the
President shall be incapacitated by illness, death, resignation, or recall.

-In addition the role stated in the bylaws, VP shall assist with the planning, coordination of, and solicitation of raffle prizes for the chapters primary fundraiser; SoCal Fest.

With the office of president vacated, I as the sitting VP have assumed the role of President. The office of vice president is now vacant. This thread is for the nominations of those individuals seeking to fill the role of VP for the remainder of the term.

The term will be from the close of elections (approximately 3/07/19) through Jan 31, 2020.
Before nominating a candidate please verify that they are willing to run.

I nominate Anthony 'Wiser' Wiser

I really appreciate the nomination, but since we have two other well qualified candidates willing to throw their hats into the ring I’m going to decline. As I mentioned in a recent post on another thread, I’m pretty busy with work these days and that has to come first for me. So thanks, but I’m confident the position will be well covered by Anthony or Ryan.

Unless I am wrong, I thought nominations were to be seconded before a nominee can accept?

I read the Chapter bylaws and do not see anything about nominations requiring a second nomination. There only needs to be a second to bring this to a vote.

Section 12, Voting

a. The Secretary/Treasurer shall keep records of all voting activity and a log

of all Motions as part of permanent So Cal Chapter records. These records

must be maintained for a period of at least five (5) years.

b. A Member shall make a Motion to the Board of Directors in order to

establish the requirement for a vote. Another Member must second the

Motion in order for it to become a formal Motion. Members can make

subsequent Motions to table or dismiss the Motion under consideration. A

tabled Motion shall be tabled for one month unless otherwise specified.

Successful Motions to dismiss are the equivalent of a failed vote. All

Motions must pass, fail, or table.

Also in regards to special elections I want to make sure this is cross posted on all appropriate forums.

Section 9, Special Elections:

a. In the event of BOD member resignation or recall a special election must

take place. A minimum of one-week notice shall be given that a special

election will be held, followed by a two-week nomination period, which is

then followed by a one week voting period. The newly elected Officer or

Board Member will take office immediately. Said notice may be posted by

any acting BOD member and must be posted in the SoCal Chapter

member forum, public forum, and NAXJA National Members forum.

According to Robert's rules nominations should be seconded unless stated otherwise by the by laws. I believe that each nomination requires a second.

Nominations are closed.
